Back before the word “blog” ever existed we had a monster of a website called Satanosphere. It was originally a place where a bunch of smartasses got together and made fun of and celebrated all the wackiness that’s on the Internet and in the world. It was a lot of fun, but it slowly died.

The problem was that many of the main contributors–Yours Truly inlcluded–went on to have professional jobs in the blogging world in some capacity. We like to think that Satanosphere had a lot to do with that, and because of this we found it rather sad that the site was languishing.

So here we are, at the new Satanosphere you see before you. It’s a little bit different, and not just in layout. The original site relied on a democratic voting process and a populist writing approach that at the same time was powerful and self-destructive. We’ve abandoned the anything-goes style and moderation queue in favor of a more structured system written and moderated by professionals.

Woman Shoots Self Trying To Kill Mice

POTTER VALLEY, Calif. — A Mendocino County woman who was trying to kill mice in her trailer with a gun ended up shooting herself and another person.

Sheriff’s officials say the 43-year-old woman pulled out her .44-caliber Magnum revolver after she saw the mice scurrying across the floor of her trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley. But she accidentally dropped the gun, which went off as it struck the floor. The bullet went through the woman’s kneecap, bounced off the keys sitting on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer and grazed the man’s groin before ending up in his coin pocket. Authorities did not release the shooting victims’ names.

The mice escaped the shooting unharmed.
